William "Bill" C. Gammey, age 83, of Menasha, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.  He was born to the late Louis and Emily (Landskron) Gammey in Neenah on December 7, 1940.

Bill worked as a painter prior to retirement, following in the steps of his father. He was an avid fisherman and spent much of the summer on the water at his cabin in Fence.

When home, he enjoyed gardening; sharing cucumbers and tomatoes with friends and neighbors and going to the local YMCA daily where he would swim and stay active with other activities. Those habits developed early as Bill was a very talented athlete; playing baseball for the Menasha Macs in the 60's and 70's and excelled at basketball as well.

Bill had an extensive music record collection and watched many older movies and tv shows, particularly the Three Stooges, where he picked up and utilized a few terms of endearment for friends and strangers alike; nyuk, nyuk.

Bill is survived by his niece Jessie (Nick) Gardner; nephew Dave (Carly) Gammey; great nephews Andrew and Jacob Gardner; great niece Emily Gammey; and many close friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Tim Gammey; sister-in-law Gloria Gammey; and other relatives.

The family has sincere gratitude for Mary Taylor and Tim Maurer for their longstanding friendship with Bill and for caring for him when he most needed it, and also for ThedaCare Cancer team and special nurse Rachel, for helping him get through treatment with dignity and for Gardens of Fountain Way, who provided him with a caring setting to make his transition. Bill was blessed to have these people walk beside him and lift him up.

Per Bill's wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date
