Obituary

Virginia "Ginny" D. Baumruk, age 90, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25th, 2024, at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center in Appleton.  Ginny was born in Fond du Lac on February 6th, 1934, to loving parents Lawrence and Margaret (Baer) Cardinal.

Virginia married her Chilton High School sweetheart Roy J. Baumruk in 1954.  They moved to Appleton in 1957 and lived there all of their remaining days.  Ginny worked alongside of her husband when he opened his own business Mr. Roy's Bridal and Formal in 1969.  They worked for over 35 years together and twice a year did the bi-annual wedding attire shopping in New York City.  Ginny loved those trips to refresh their stock as well as discover all the wonders of the big city.

Ginny lived a full, loving and "fun" life.  You rarely saw her without a smile on her face.  She enjoyed dancing with her husband, active member of St. Joseph Church, and Wives of the Deaconate Branch of Green Bay, playing cards with the ladies and couples, along with their weekend trips to Legend Lake cottage in their later years.  But most of all, the most important part of her life was her family.  Nothing meant more to her than spending time with them.  Her face was always smiling when with or thinking of her family.

She was so proud of her and Roy's children:  Margaret "Maggie" (Michael) Laird, Piney Flats, TN, Kathleen "Kathy" (Jim) Schuh, Appleton, Roy M. (Linda) Baumruk, Appleton, and Lawrence "Larry" (Dawn) Baumruk, Kaukauna; their grandchildren:  Stanley and Alexa Edwards, TN, Eric and Kerri Edwards, TN, Jeremy Baumruk, AZ, Nicole and Will Fabich, Iola, Brandon and Cheri Baumruk, AZ; great grandchildren:  Zachary, Vivian, Matthew, Leah Edwards; Orion, Bryn Edwards; Brooklyn, Sedona Baumruk, Colton and Wyatt Fabich; sister-in-law, Dolores Marlenga, and niece and nephews, Diane Metz, Dan and Jim Marlenga.

Ginny and Roy were blessed with many special friends and family, a few of which were:  Dolores "Tootie" Baer-Hall, Jim and Sandy Wesley, Jan Johnson, Robert and Karen Suhr, the "girls" from Mr. Roy's, and her latest dear friend and neighbor Cheryl Allen.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Deacon Roy J. Baumruk, her parents Lawrence and Margaret Cardinal, her in-laws:  Laddie and Ann Baumruk, her brother-in-law Frank Marlenga, and a very special friend Rev. Michael Wild.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St. Appleton.  Friends may visit at the church on Thursday from 9:30 am until 10:45 am.  Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Very special thank you to the staff at St. Elizabeth ER and Hospital that took such kind care of mom at two different times, as well as the staff at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The kindness that both places showed to our mom, made our life and choice easy knowing the care and love she was given during her stays.
