Thomas J. Schreiter of Appleton, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 with his loving family by his side.

Tom graduated from Appleton High School, class of 1954. On September 14, 1957, he married the love of his life, Marie R. Peterson, whom he met at the Log-Inn dancing the night away. They recently celebrated 64 wonderful years of marriage. Tom was the first drive-up bank teller in the state of Wisconsin at Appleton State Bank. His career in banking included Auditor and retiring as Vice President with Appleton State Bank which merged into Valley Bank and M&I.

Tom was a very social man until the awful disease of dementia took that from him. He was involved in Knights of Columbus #607 for many years, including the bowling league, golf outing, as Grand Knight, Toys for Tots program and the infamous Tootsie Roll Drive, which was one of his favorites. He was proud of his beautiful backyard where many different types of flowers grew. Dad enjoyed putzing around the yard and garage. He was always doing something and enjoyed every minute of it!

Tom was most proud of his family. Loving wife, Marie, was with him every step of the way. She was his amazing care giver over the years, and we are thankful that Dad was able to live at home until his last week of life. There wasn't any other place where Mom would rather be, than with Tom. Whether it was taking their little pup, Sophie, for a walk or a walk around the grocery store, they were there for each other until the end. Their marriage is the highest example of love, and his children were proud to witness it daily.

As much as Dad suffered, especially this past week, we know that he is now with the good Lord and can rest easy. There will be so many greeting him at Heaven's gate, and we are excited for him! We promised to take the best care of Mom, which will be honored with the love they both showed us thru life.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Marie Schreiter; children: Jeanne (Don) Pappas, David (Bobbie) Schreiter, Judy (Terry) Otto, and Tim Schreiter; 9 granchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother Chuck (Pat) Schreiter; and many other relatives and friends.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents; twin sister Sue Schramm; sister Barbara (Richard) Noon; and son Steve Schreiter.

Per the family's wishes, a private service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Theda Care at Home nurses Nate and Tracy, Theda Care-Appleton 5th floor nursing staff and Hospice Team for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Dementia Society of America or the Fox Valley Humane Society are greatly appreciated.
