Thomas Michael Long, age 66, was called home to be with our Lord on July 30th, 2025 after a year-long battle with cancer.

Tom was born on December 29th, 1958, in Appleton to Jerry and Gladie Long.  He graduated from Appleton West, received his bachelor's from UW-Oshkosh and his MBA from Marquette University.

UW-Oshkosh was where he met the love of his life, Linda Scheuerell.  They married on November 7th, 1987, and spent 37 years walking hand-in-hand through this life. After graduation, Tom chased Linda to Los Angeles, where they reunited, married, and started a family.  Orange County was the location they called home for the next seven years while enjoying visits from many family members. Wanting to raise their young sons back home, they moved to Appleton in 1993. Soon thereafter Tom started LongVANS, a successful container rental business based out of Freedom, that operated for 27 years. After selling the business, he recently invested in commercial real estate in the Appleton area.

Many happy memories were spent in Lambeau Field cheering on the Packers and relaxing in Door County. He traveled coast to coast and overseas with his family, but the true home away from home was Fort Myers Beach, FL.

Ultimately, his proudest accomplishment was his family. As Tom was leaving this world, he was surrounded by those whom he loved most. Tom is survived by his loving wife Linda, his oldest son, Thomas (Keren), grandson Levi, and youngest son Andrew "AJ" Long.

He is also survived by his brother, Gary Long (Jill) and  6 sisters, Laura Muinde, Julie Dobberstein (Doug), Jean Long Manteufel (Randy), Molly Hoffmann (Kirt), Diane Hinze (Joel "Horb"), and Beth Long (Chuck Gyrion); as well as in-laws, Gary Scheuerell (Rita), Appleton, Peggy Bertone (Joe), Sun Prairie, John Scheuerell (Sue), East Troy, and Joan O'Connor (Tom), Sun Prairie. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Gladie Long, and Linda's parents, Clem and Margaret Scheuerell, as well as Linda's brother, Ron Scheuerell.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7p.m.  August 7th, 2025 at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Home, 606 N Oneida St, Appleton, WI.  A private funeral will be held for immediate family.
