Sandy Simon, age 76, a lifelong resident of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, the day after Christmas, a holiday she cherished deeply. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1966 and from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh in 1971. Sandy worked as a travel agent for nearly 30 years, a career inspired by her lifelong love of travel. She and Bob also enjoyed spending 12 winters as snowbirds in Marco Island, FL.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 51 years, Bob Simon; her son, Jared Simon; her daughter-in-law, Heejib Simon; and her cherished grandchildren, Jaehee and Joon Simon. Sandy is also survived by her brothers, Bruce (Katie) Petros and Craig (Lynn) Petros. Additionally, she is survived by her in-laws, Bill (Shirley) Simon, Mary Giles, Mike (Carole) Simon, Suzanne (Larry) Wade, Jeanne (Rock) Kanyuh, and Dick (Diane) Simon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart.
A woman of many passions, Sandy found joy in traveling and exploring the world, visiting 64 countries. She was also an avid cook and gardener, and above all, she treasured the time she spent with her family and friends. Her warmth, kindness, and love for life were evident in the many memories she created with those closest to her.
A visitation to honor Sandy's life will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Home in Appleton from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to thank Dr. Valla and her oncology team at ThedaCare for their compassionate care over the last two years. If inclined, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Sandy's honor.
Sandy's memory will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate to know and love her.
