Rose Ann
Milbach 'Mickey'
Aug 8, 1929 — Feb 21, 2025
Appleton
Rose Ann Milbach "Mickey," age 95, of Appleton, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.
Mickey was born in Escanaba, Michigan on August 8, 1929, to the late William and Rosella (Schmidt) Riley. She was the youngest of four. She lived in Appleton, Wisconsin for 95 years. She attended Appleton High School where she met her future husband, Ed Milbach. They were united in marriage in 1949 at St. Therese Catholic Church. They had six children. Ed and Mickey enjoyed over 61 years of marriage until Ed's passing in 2011.
Mickey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was kind, caring and truly loved by all. She made everyone feel welcome in her home. She was a mom to not only her family, but she was like a "mom" to many others.
Mickey belonged to St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton for over 85 years. She had a prayful relationship with God. Her favorite Saints were St. Patrick, St. Anthony, and St. Jude. She volunteered at St. Mary Catholic Church in many capacities such as kitchen help for school lunches and funeral dinners.
For over 25 years Mickey volunteered at the "Quarter Store" serving the poor. It was there she developed many lifelong friendships. In the 1970's, she worked at Gimbels in the Candy Department where she was known by the neighborhood kids as the "Candy Lady".
Mickey enjoyed spending time up north at the cottage on Dogwood Lane in Abrams, WI. She was a fabulous cook and famous for making birthday cakes for many. She enjoyed a "good bargain" and often went rummaging and thrifting with family and friends. St. Patrick's Day was her favorite holiday where she cooked corn beef and cabbage and celebrated her proud Irish ancestry.
Mickey is survived by and will be dearly missed by all family members including her children: Ann (Angelo) Castillo, William (Betsy) Milbach, Miles (Lonnie) Milbach, Judy (Todd) Fischer, and Mary (Randey) Felton; grandchildren: Brian (special friend Alissa Weitz) Castillo, Tyler (Courtnery) Milbach, Cory (Ashlee) Milbach, Emily (Christopher O'Connell) Milbach, Kira Fischer, Kendra Fischer, Lauren (Tyler) Christopherson, Alexis (fiancé Colin Winter) Felton, and Zachary Felton; great grandchildren: Reagan Milbach, Bennett Milbach, Landon Milbach, Holden Milbach, MaCollin Milbach, Milo Milbach, and Lauren (Tyler) Christopherson's baby on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
Mickey is preceded in death by her husband, Ed; son Timothy Milbach; her parents; siblings: Matthew "Mike" (Mary Alice) Riley, William "Fuzz" (Evie) Riley, and Tom (Lucille) Riley; and numerous other relatives and friends that she held dear.
A memorial service for Mickey will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State Street, Appleton. Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bonnie and Rich Retza for their friendship, meals and care they provided to Mickey over the last several years.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
