Robert A. Ward, (81), of Appleton, WI, passed away on February 22, 2023, from complications from lung cancer.

Bob was born to Hugh & Clara Ward on October 27, 1941 in Cicero, IL. After graduating from UW-Madison with a master degree in engineering, he accepted a job at Motorola in Schaumburg, IL. This is where he met his lovely wife, Lynda. They married on March 21, 1970.  Bob and Lynda then headed to Stockholm, Sweden for a year where their first daughter Kristen was born.  After heading back to the states, he and his wife welcomed their second daughter Lesley in PA. They finally settled in Appleton, WI where Bob enjoyed a long career as a mechanical engineer at Thilmany and Appleton Papers.

Bob and his family enjoyed the Wisconsin summers camping around the state before settling in their cottage in Wild Rose for 30 years.  In retirement Bob and Lynda enjoyed traveling around the US & Canada exploring the beautiful countryside in their trailer. Bob continued enjoying his love for math by tutoring young students in local schools, including his granddaughter! He and his buddies enjoyed building model train displays and sharing them with young children and other train enthusiasts.  He will be missed by his family, his grandson, his sister-in-law Connie and many more.

A celebration of life will be held 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Saturday, March 4, at the Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel.

Bob's humor and quick wit brought joy to anyone that encountered him. He recently summarized the most important thing he learned in life, "The gift in life is not to be loved, the gift is to have someone to love."
