Robert George
Heim
Sep 2, 1933 — Apr 10, 2026
Eden Prairie
Robert (Bob) George Heim, devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great‑grandfather, passed away peacefully at age 92 on April 10, 2026. Bob was born on Sept. 2, 1933, in Escanaba, MI to the late George and Esther Heim. His family moved to Marinette, WI, when he was eight. He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School in Marinette in 1951.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Heim; children: John (Judy) Heim, Lori (Jay) Heinecke and Lynne (Mark) Enright; sisters: Pat Hnilicka and Barbara Firme; grandchildren: Jamie (Emily) Heinecke, Jaden Heinecke, Makayla Heim, Amy (Andrew) Steinberger and Rob Enright; two great‑grandchildren: Charlie and Caroline Heinecke; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Esther Heim; in-laws: Clarence and Violet Payne and his sister, Eileen Vedra.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Bob was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, during the Korean War and often shared memories of his time in the service. He married the love of his life Barbara Payne on August 30, 1958, in Menominee, MI. The couple lived in Albert Lea, MN and Menasha, WI before moving to Appleton, WI, where they were residents and members of St. Bernadette Parish for more than 60 years.
In Appleton, Bob worked for Wisconsin Michigan Power Company and Fox River Paper Company. He played in the Power Company Golf League at Reid Municipal Golf Course for 50 years until age 91. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, attending numerous games at Lambeau Field. He also was a big fan of the Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers. Bob treasured the friendships of his neighbors on Christine Street. He was the neighborhood tech expert always troubleshooting computer issues for neighbors.
Family meant everything to him; he cherished time spent with loved ones and attended every one of his children's sporting events and activities. Bob coached Little League and other sporting events for his children. And as Grandpa he went to many of his grandchildren's events as well. Bob enjoyed woodworking—making puzzle boards for family and friends and crafting jewelry boxes for his granddaughters. He enjoyed working with computers, spending many hours creating digital greeting cards and keeping up with the latest technology. He loved ice cream—especially hot fudge sundaes with extra fudge from JD's—and was famous among his family for the tasty Brandy Old Fashioneds he made.
Known for his warmth, steady presence, quiet strength, and gentle humor, his kindness touched everyone who knew him. Everyone that Bob got to know became a friend. We will miss you, Dad. We love you, Dad. You are and will forever be in our hearts. God loves you and now you are home. We will see you again someday.
A Mass of Resurrection for Bob will be held at 11 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on Sat, April 25, 2026. Visitation will begin prior to the Mass from 9-11am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Old Glory Honor Flight: https://missionsofhonor.org.
The family thanks all who have offered condolences and support.
