(Butler) Bartman
Feb 20, 1945 — Oct 15, 2024
Appleton
Mona Bartman, age 79, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at her home on October 15, 2024. Mona was born on February 20, 1945, in Appleton to the late Thomas and Ramona (Hooyman) Butler. Mona married Thomas Bartman in 1964 at St Mary's Catholic Church and together they took great pride in raising and loving their two children, Lisa and Tom.
Mona graduated from Appleton High School in 1963. She worked in banking for 47 years, including First National Bank, then Appleton Building and Loan, after a number of name changes, eventually becoming North Shore Bank when she retired. For 29 years Mona was well known for her excellent service as a personal banker and friendly face to Appleton community citizens who frequented North Shore Bank.
Mona and Tom shared their love of the Northwoods with their family and friends. Fishing, camping and especially their annual family vacation in the Three Lakes Area with extended family. They built a log cabin in Lily that continues to be lovingly used by family members. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and games with her family and friends. For decades, Mona almost weekly attended a movie with her good friend, Patti.
Mona was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her beloved son, Tom, son-in-law Scott Watkins, sister Maureen Waala, sister-in-law Mary Neitzke, brothers-in-law Richard Brucks, Robert Weber and Terry Bartman. Mona is survived by her daughter, Lisa, her brother Bill (Sharon) Butler, sisters Ellen Weber Helms (Dave), Sheila Brucks, Brother in law Gordon Neitzke, Don (Ray) Bartman, sister in law Susan (Rob) Draxler, grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Wall, John (Christy) Watkins, Ryan (Rachele) Watkins, Spencer (Helena) Watkins, Melanie (Jacob) Perez, Craig (Samantha) Vanden Heuvel, Max (Crystal) Bartman, Sam Bartman (Morgan) great-grandchildren, Blake and Andie Wall, Ryker and Rayne Watkins, Norah Watkins, Kaylee, Quintin, and Raymond Watkins, Skyler, Collin, Myles and Ian Perez, Hailey, Malerie and Harper Vanden Heuvel, Addilyn and Thomas Bartman, and daughter-in-law Nancy, many nieces and nephews, Supportive family friends, Greg (Phyllis) Peters, Dewey & Shirlee Stroessenreuther and lifelong friend (since 4 yr old), Patricia Winter.
Mona was kind and friendly to everyone she met. She was sincerely interested in others and their life story. She worked for many years to help support her family and was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mona was a member of the Appleton Historical Society, enjoying local history as well as family history.
Mona was very thankful for her daughter Lisa, who has given her time and energy as Mona and Tom's caregiver over the last few years. Their son, Tom, was a supportive, loving son and she will be reunited with him in eternal life.
The family would like to extend a special Thank you to Sienna, Liz and Amanda with Compassus Hospice for their wonderful care of Mona in her final months.
