Patricia "Ann"
Dewey
Jun 27, 1952 — Nov 23, 2024
Appleton
Patricia "Ann" Dewey, age 72, of Appleton, passed away on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024, at Silverstone Memory Care in Grand Chute. Ann was born in June of 1952 to the late Enoch Warren and Betty Ann (Arterburn) Hickey.
On October 13th, she was united in marriage to Larry Conrad Dewey in Memphis, TN. The couple enjoyed 45 years together until his passing on December 10th, 2014.
In the beginning, they moved to San Francisco, CA for Larry's Naval career until the fall of 1970 when they returned to Larry's hometown of Manistique, MI and had their first daughter. Upon Larry becoming a Journeyman Welder, they moved to Sheboygan, WI where they welcomed their son in 1972. They purchased their first home in Cedar River, MI where they then had their last child in 1983. Ann earned her LPN in July of '79 and started work at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, MI and also worked in private in-home health care. She went on to receive her RN degree in December of 1988. In the summer of 1990, the family moved to Appleton where Ann completed 24 years of Nursing services at St. Elizabeth Hospital/Affinity Midway Surgery Center.
Ann was an eternal caretaker. She helped raise her siblings from the age of 14 after the untimely passing of her father. Ann was a nurse her entire adult life, retiring after 36 years. She then provided care for her ailing husband. After his passing in 2014, she also provided care for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nurturing was in her blood.
Her hobbies included all arts and crafts, specifically crocheting. She won a Best in Show Award in August of 2018 at the Calumet County Fair for her Amish pinwheel bedspread. She completed 3 of these bedspreads, the first of which took 7 years. She perfected the craft and by the 3rd she knocked 2 years off her time to complete! She was very proud of these accomplishments.
She will be missed by her three children: Tricia (Dennis) Van Dinter, Larry (Tamea) Dewey Jr., and Lori (Tom) Wolfert; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; siblings: Warren Hickey, Carol (Chris) Frame, Paul (Jackie) Hickey, and Tony (Edith) Hickey. She is further survived by some of the most wonderful friends and former co-workers.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, mother Betty and father Enoch.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, December 7th, at the Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 10 am until 11:15 am. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
A special thanks to Moments Hospice for their tender care and compassion for our mom. We would like to specifically call out Nell and Sophia. Our mom so loved you two and you both gave her and us great comfort knowing she was in your loving care. Also, to the staff at Silverstone Memory Care, specifically Cici and Kelly. You are angels sent to this earth and mom was so blessed to have such phenomenal caregivers.
