Michael J. Murray, age 87, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.  Michael was born in Algoma, WI to the late David and Florence (Ackerman) Murray.

He graduated from St. Mary Catholic High School in Menasha with the class of 1953.  Following high school, he attended Marquette University and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1958.  On his Birthday in 1962, he was united in marriage to Janet Sommers in Milwaukee.  The couple have enjoyed over 60 years together.

Michael worked as an Electrical Engineer at Kimberly Clark for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1995.  Following retirement, he volunteered his time to Housing Partnership and Habitat for Humanity.  He enjoyed skiing and hiking in Colorado, reading, traveling within the US and abroad, and spending many weekends with his family at their cottage in Door County.  He was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Murray, Appleton; three daughters:  Margie (Bob) Paffrath, Appleton, Kathy (John) Massie, Germantown, and Mary (Dave) Zajakala, Des Plaines, IL; 7 grandchildren:  Michael (Kayla), Anna, Ashtin, Taylor, Allison, Joseph, and John.

He was preceded in death by his parents David and Florence, and his sister Mary.

A Memorial Service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, February 25 ^th , at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St. Appleton.  Friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service.  Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Habitat for Humanity.
