Obituary

Mary L. Steckbauer, age 81, of Appleton, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.  Mary was born in Appleton on November 12, 1942, to the late Edward and Louise (Rossmeissel) Mislinski.  She married Paul S. Steckbauer on April 23, 1962.  Paul preceded Mary in death in 2015.

Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time up north in Conover.  The void she leaves will never be filled.  But, for the countless people she took in, counseled, and lent a shoulder to cry on – Mary will walk with in their hearts for the rest of their lives.  Kindness and love were Mary's trademark and her legacy.  Rest in peace Mary Louise Steckbauer.

Mary will be sadly missed by her 3 sons:  Paul (special friend Michelle), Thomas, and Stephen (special friend Karesse).  Grandchildren Thomas, Meghan, Jeffery, Jason, Stephan, Zach, Elizabeth, Alexandra, Thomas, and Isabella.  Siblings Paul Mislinski and Anne Hardy, and sister-in-law Joyce Mislinski.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, son Joseph, and brothers Mark and Peter Mislinski.

No funeral services, per Mary's request.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

From her son Paul:  Early Sunday morning, when my brothers drove me to the airport, a blazing red sunrise erupted from the east.  In the center, a narrow beam of red light rose all the way to the heavens.  We had never seen such a sunrise!  To us, Mom was letting her boys know that everything was right in Paradise.
