Marjorie Ann Piehl, age 83, died on the morning of May 2, 2026, at Primrose Retirement Community of Appleton peacefully in her sleep.
Born on May 31, 1942, in Granite Falls, Minnesota, Marjorie (Marge) spent her life singing hymns, styling hair, baking Norwegian treats and spending time with her family. She graduated from Belview High School, received a certificate in cosmetology and later worked as a beautician where she was known for her passion and finesse. She owned and operated her own beauty salon for 15 years. After moving to Appleton, Wisconsin, she was a regular attendee of Alliance Church.
She always welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. Whether extended family members, friends in need or even foster children, her cozy, welcoming home was a prime model for hospitality to those around her.
In addition to her warm hospitality, she was an artist at heart, vividly bearing God's image in her creativity every single day. Between her long days at the salon chair and quiet afternoons in her rocking chair with a cup of coffee in hand, she always made annual painting days – complete with her famous gooey caramel rolls fresh out of the oven – and occasional shopping sprees a priority. If anyone could pull off a bold statement piece necklace with a Chico's cotton shirt, it was Marge and her artistry.
Marjorie A. Piehl is survived by her son, David C. Piehl Jr.; daughters, Jennifer A. Holmes and Marie A. Coffman; and grandchildren, Spencer C., Kyle C., Samuel C., Indigo Z., Annika C., Annah K., Zachary P. and Autumn H.
A Memorial Service for Marjorie will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Appleton Alliance Church, 2693 Grand Chute Blvd, Appleton, WI 54913, with Rev. Mark Tegtmeier officiating. Brunch to follow, featuring Marge's famous cinnamon and caramel rolls.
Condolences may be sent to Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel at 606 N. Oneida St., Appleton, Wisconsin, 54911.
