Obituary

Family and friends in Appleton and beyond deeply mourn the loss of Marci Roeder, who passed away at the age of 67 on March 7, 2025, in her home at Randall Court.  She was born November 13, 1957.

Marci's life was filled to the brim with love of family and good friends who brought her joy, comfort, and support.  Among those missing her the most are her mother, Terri Roeder; father Dick Roeder; brother Mark; sister Leslie; nephews Lars and Trygve Roeder, Dexter Earley; and niece, Olive Earley.  Marci was preceded in death by sister Renee Roeder Earley (Kevin Earley), who passed away on February 13, 2025.

Marci had the incredible knack of remembering the birthdays of everyone in the family, including numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, but also friends and acquaintances who were often pleasantly surprised to receive an annual happy birthday phone call from her.  She held a special place in her heart for her Uncle Jerry.

Marci was well cared for daily by her caregiver, Julie, with whom she developed a deep friendship over their 27 years of working together.  In addition to helping her with medical appointments and medications, Julie arranged excursions to Lambeau field events, PAC shows, and the annual Christmas show at Xavier High School, to name a few.  Her most recent adventure was going to see the Lion King with Julie and Terri, which she loved.  She recently told her mom that she was looking forward to an upcoming "road trip" to Bermuda, which gave us all a smile.

When Marci smiled, she lit up the room.  Some of the things that brought her joy through the years were Reuben sandwiches, bowling, the Special Olympics, Packer gear, trips to summer camp, swimming in pools, a trip to New York City to visit her sisters, gifts from her brother Mark, shopping at Goodwill or Target with her Mom, and adding to her many collections, including socks, dish towels, stuffed animals, fluffy critters for her key chain, but above all else, her smiley faces! She had scores of smiley face mugs, vases, planters, pillows, key chains and almost anything that had the famous yellow smile. She had an uncanny knack to recognize an Original yellow Smiley Face.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Home, 606 N Oneida St in Appleton, Wisconsin.  Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
