Lorna Edwina
Kasten
May 29, 1945 — Dec 12, 2025
Appleton
Lorna Edwina Davidson Kasten, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 12, 2025, surrounded by family who loved and cherished her deeply.
Born in Appleton on May 29, 1945, to Vera and Edwin Davidson, and later lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, Alvin Lietz, Lorna lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith and community.
On May 29, 1965, she married the love of her life, Les Kasten, at Holy Angels, Darboy.
Their unwavering partnership of sixty years was a model of faith and commitment. Together, they built a family grounded in love, laughter and song.
Lorna will be deeply missed by her sons Lee (Nancy) Kasten and Kraig (Tammy)
Kasten, both of Appleton; and by her grandchildren who were the light of her life — Evie
(Bill) Brossman of Seymour, Celia (Zach) Tichelaar of Wauwatosa, Leslie Kasten of Chicago, Rece Kasten of Appleton, and Kali Kasten (Jason Oft) of River Falls. She also lovingly embraced her step-granddaughters Olivia Kuenster (Ivy Evrard) of St. Paul, and Abigail Kuenster (Kyle Wainscott) of Indianapolis.
Lorna was especially proud of her growing family, including her greatgrandchildren Vera Rose Brossman, Theodore Winton Tichelaar, and a new great granddaughter Tichelaar expected in 2026.
She is survived by her sister Sandra Kasten, and by many dear brothers- and sisters-in-law: Nancy Davidson, Bonnie (Carl) VandenHeuvel, Donnie (Rose) Kasten, Sandy Van Thiel, Peggy (Dick) Van Asten, and Lori (Keith) Kowalski. Each shared in a special chapter of her life, filled with joy, faith and countless family gatherings. She will also be fondly remembered and missed by her many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends who loved her.
Including her parents, Lorna was preceded in death by her mother and father in-law, Les and LaVerne Kasten, her brother Ronald Davidson, sister Bonnie Felauer, brother in-law Ed Felauer, brother-in-law Glenn Kasten and brother-in-law Tom Van Thiel.
Her compassion and kindness touched all who knew her. For years, Lorna and Les sat in the stands at Appleton East girls' softball games cheering on the team. Their dedication was recognized in 2017 when they were named honorary grandparents of the team, a recognition that filled them with pride. She found joy in simple moments spent with family, tending to her home and supporting her church community. Her steady presence, warm smile and joyful laugh will be forever remembered.
Services honoring Lorna's life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2220 E College Ave., Appleton on Saturday, December 20 with visitation from 9 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Service will begin at 11 a.m.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Moments Hospice for the gentle and loving care they gave Lorna. In lieu of flowers, Lorna requested that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and Friends of the Appleton Fire Department.
Lorna's life was a testament to enduring love, faith and family, a legacy that will continue in those she leaves behind.
