Lois Marie
Schapekahm
May 28, 1933 — Jun 19, 2025
Menasha
It's with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lois Schapekahm, who peacefully entered eternal life at the age of 92 on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Prairie Home Assisted Living in Menasha, WI.
Born in Milwaukee, WI on May 28, 1933 to the late Harry and Alma (Koch) Shiley, Lois lived a life guided by faith in God's Word. On August 7th, 1955, she was united in holy matrimony to Gerhard Schapekahm of New Ulm, MN. Together they shared a remarkable 70 years of love, devotion, and mutual dedication to Christian service.
A faithful educator, Lois spent more than 25 years teaching in Lutheran schools, joyfully nurturing God's little lambs. Her love of teaching extended far beyond the classroom, and her life was a testimony to her strength, spirit, and unwavering faith in her Savior.
Lois had quick wit, a creative heart, and busy hands. She was an avid crafter, known for her beautiful needlework and handmade greeting cards. In her later years, she continued to serve by leading crafting classes for her neighbors, always eager to share her gifts and brighten the days of others.
She is survived by her three children: Dan Schapekahm of Grand Chute, Linda Kath of Appleton, and Todd Schapekahm of Berlin; her seven grandchildren: Samantha, Jacklyn, Lauren, Hannah, Zachary, Abby, Adam; and her eight great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Bennet, Brinley, Clara, Lainey, Olivia, Lucy and Addie. She is also survived by her sister, Irene Stampf of Appleton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard, her parents, and her sisters: JoAnn Lancer and Miriam Satorius.
A private memorial service was held for immediate family, with Pastor Mark Gartner officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Fremont. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family of Lois extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Prairie Home Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care provided during her final days.
Who so happy as I am,
Even now the Shepherd's lamb?
And when my short life is ended,
By his angel hosts attended,
He shall fold me to his breast,
There within his arms to rest.
