Julian Craig
Derridinger
Aug 3, 1947 — Mar 17, 2026
Appleton
Julian, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 3,1947 in Green Bay, WI to Norbert and Virginia (Fischer) Derridinger. In 1949, the family moved to Appleton upon the completion of the newly built, family homestead located on S. Casaloma Drive, just west of Appleton, in the country, where many memories would begin.
He began his neighborhood adventures exploring the local creek and quarry, climbing trees, playing in the woods, playing baseball, football, tobogganing and ice hockey. He attended St, Mary's Grade School, Xavier High School for two years, and what is now Appleton West High School for his last two years, graduating in 1965. He was active in Cub and Boy Scouting and enjoyed times with his father, going fly-fishing, as well as goose and pheasant hunting. He caddied at Butte des Morts golf course, worked for UPS, and for Pizza Hut. During those years, Julian and his family, would take family vacations throughout Canada, the U.S. and parts of Mexico.
While attending Marquette University in Milwaukee, he became an advocate against the use of illegal drugs, assisting students, to get the treatment they needed to overcome their addictions. This advocacy continued through his working years. He enjoyed sailing, golfing and rooting the Marquette "Warriors" to another win! He graduated with a degree from the School of Business in 1970 getting employed by Johnson Controls. As a business administrator, he worked out of offices in Milwaukee, WI, and Goshen, IN.
While working for Johnson Controls, Julian traveled globally from England, to Mexico, and to Australia and to various states throughout the U.S. After leaving Johnson Controls, he returned to Appleton and the family homestead, where he took a job with Surface Mount Technology before retiring.
He was a lifelong Packer fan. He was a compassionate, Christian man who enjoyed the company of family and close friends. He helped his neighbors, plowing them out, cutting and treating invasive buckthorn, taking down trees that died from various diseases, and digging something up with the help of his favorite tractor, "Orange Crush."
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents: Joseph and Elizabeth Fischer, Raymond and Marie Derridinger, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Julian is survived by his sisters: Barbara (John) Bell, Appleton and Carla (David) Omachinski, Oshkosh, and their children: Kim and Scott, his aunt Judy (Fischer) Stilp and many cousins.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Parish, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton on Monday, March 30, 2026. Visitation will be held from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. until the time of Mass.
