Jon F. Young, 79, Appleton, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 12, 2026.  Jon was born on July 8, 1947, to Howard and Eleanor (Engel) Young.

Jon graduated from Marinette High School in 1965 and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in History in 1970.  After graduating from college, Jon was called to serve in the U.S. Army in Vietnam returning home July 4, 1971.

On July 24, 1971, Jon married his beloved wife, Della Greb, and they made their home in Appleton after Jon was discharged from the Army in October 1971.

Jon continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, receiving a Master's degree in History and courses in Education.  After receiving his degree, he started teaching in the Appleton Area School District until retirement in 2002.

Jon is survived by his wife Della, his son Seth, brothers Lanny (Sue) Young and Scott Young; brother-in-law Orin (Christine) Greb.  He is also survived by nieces, nephews and close friends.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Eleanor Young, sister Judy Berg and mother and father-in-law, Orin and Erna Greb.

Jon was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed touring baseball stadiums.  Jon's hobbies also included: gardening, chess, reading, and walking.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 930 East Florida Avenue, Appleton, WI.
