Jeffrey A.
Riedl
Aug 14, 1958 — Jul 6, 2023
Hortonville
Jeffrey A. Riedl, age 64, Hortonville, passed away Thursday July 6, 2023. He was born on August 14, 1958, in Chicago, IL to the late Donald and Maryann Riedl. Jeff grew up in Chicago and moved to Wisconsin with his wife Cheri in 1990. Jeff was a loving husband and father and valued his family and God above all.
Jeff wore many hats throughout his life. Originally a music education major at DePaul University, he worked as a middle school band director for many years. He spent several years in radio at WOGB and Q90FM in Green Bay as an on-air host, also working as a DJ for special events throughout the Midwest. After leaving radio, Jeff became a professional web designer and web host, and enjoyed being able to help small local businesses increase their presence online.
Jeff found a true passion when he began running his dog, Muncher, in dog agility trials in 2000. He loved developing his relationship with his dog, and quickly decided this was the path his life would follow. In 2008, he hosted his first agility trial as a fundraiser for the Menasha Police Department, and successfully raised over $40,000 towards the purchase, training, and equipping of a new K-9 unit, Officer Gommez. Jeff's dog, Muncher, went on to become a three-time national champion. When he retired, Jeff found his next agility dog, 'Rita, and has been running her for the last 7 years. They have won numerous titles and championships through NADAC and AKC and had a bond like none other. Jeff spent many years as a professional judge for NADAC and loved being able to tour North America to work with dogs and their owners in this amazing sport. He began training professionally and eventually hosted regular agility trials at his home, fostering a community of dog owners who focused on respect, kindness, and the joy of going out and playing with their dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Cheri; daughter, Corrie; and his beloved dogs, 'Rita, Sheila, Puck, and Benny.
