Obituary

James C. Kugler, a proud Vietnam Veteran, died on August 29, 2025.  James was drafted, went through basic training and served in Vietnam from July 1968 through September of 1969.  He was awarded the Army Medal of Commendation to Sergeant James C. Kugler.  Many reasons were given why he received this Medal, but the one that stood out was, "His unrelenting loyalty, initiative, and perseverance brought him wide acclaim and inspired others to strive for maximum achievement."

When the war was over, there were no parades celebrating their return.  It is said that the bravery of a veteran is not just in battle, but the strength to return home and keep going.  James did this and lived a full life in Appleton.

Now towards the end of his life, James had one more battle to fight.  He had lung cancer and endured intensive radiation, four days a week for many weeks.  The tumor, however, did not shrink and he also developed blood cancer.  He endured all of this for "the woman who meant everything in the world" to him, his Georgia.  Georgia Sierra was by his side through all his journey.  He did not want to leave her.  His final words to here were, "I Love You".

James loved Georgia's children as a loving Dad would and the grandchildren as a loving Grandpa.  He loved his sister Diane Kugler as only a brother could.  Jim will be missed dearly by his family; his sister Diane; his niece Lisa; his nephew Dan; his cousins, and his friends.  Jim loved them all.

Waiting for him in heaven to greet him are his siblings Larry and Eileen; his parents Lawrence and Dorothy Kugler; and many other relatives and friends.

Jim will have a military burial at Highland Memorial Park on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11 am.  All are welcome to attend.
