Jakep D. Hartl, age 26, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 6, 2024, at his home.  Jakep was born in Appleton on November 14, 1997, to Duane "Butch" and Michelle (Thews) Hartl.

He attended school at Appleton West High School.  Jakep worked for the past three years at Advantage XPO.  He enjoyed being outdoors hunting – especially deer hunting.  He also loved to hang out with friends, listen to music, bon fires, going out for wings, and big trucks.

He will be missed by his parents, Duane "Butch" and Michelle, Appleton; his sister, Sascha Hartl, Menasha; maternal grandmother, Sandra Vandenberg, Neenah; his aunts:  Andrea (Dave) Clark, Menasha and Danielle Vandenberg, Little Chute; cousins:  Kasondra Huebner, and her children Kaeson and Alaya, and Kaylana Behling and her son Bryar; 3 nieces:  Kiaona, Tessa, and Kaelondra; 2 nephews:  Zander and Xaivor; his best friend, hunting buddy, and side kick – Matthew Knight, Waupaca; special friends Danielle Yancy, Makayla Jesse, and Heather Stambaugh, and his work breakfast group.  He is further survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward Thews; paternal grandparents:  Glenn and Frances Hartl; sister, Ashley Fonda; and niece Kaylona.

A funeral service will take place at 4 pm on Thursday, September 19th, at Appleton Alliance Church, 2693 Grand Chute Blvd, Appleton.  Friends may visit at the church Thursday from 2 pm till 3:45 pm.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
