Irmgard I.
Miller
Nov 14, 1941 — Feb 8, 2025
Appleton
Irmgard I. Miller, age 83, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Heartwood Senior Living in Appleton following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Irmgard was born in Munich, Germany on November 14, 1941, to the late Walter and Berta (Schmid) Reinhart.
On July 2, 1962, she was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Miller in Germany. The couple have enjoyed over 62 years together.
Irmgard worked for the City of Appleton as a Crossing Guard for 49 years, where she crossed students at the same corner on Calumet and Oneida Streets. She is remembered by generations of people who have approached her and said, "you used to cross me on my way to Foster School."
Irmgard loved gardening with Bob. Their home was featured on "The Garden Walk" here in Appleton in 1994 and 1999. She and Bob took great pride in their garden creating a beautiful landscape – even hosting a wedding in their yard.
She will be dearly missed by her husband Bob, Appleton; their beloved dog "Dexter", two daughters: Sonja (Jesse) Gonzalez, Dexter, IA and Brenda Reiser, Norwalk, IA; 4 grandchildren: Tanya (Kyle) Lange, Sierra Jensen, Jeffrey McCarthy, and Aaron Fulcer; a sister-in-law Sue (Henry) Smith; 5 brothers-in-law: Ron (Carol) Miller Appleton, Jack Miller, Greenville, Jim (Laverne) Miller, Pearson, WI, Ray (Kathy) Miller, Greenville, and Tom (Lorraine) Miller, Greenville. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sonja, brother-in-law Leroy, and sister-in-law Cathy Miller.
A graveside service at Riverside Cemetery will take place at a later date followed by a celebration of Irmgard's life.
The family wishes to extend a special heartfelt thank you to AseraCare Hospice Care and the staff at Heartwood Senior Living for the outstanding care, compassion, and love given to Irmgard.
