Helga "Ellie" Eggener, age 89, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2025, with her loving husband by her side at Rennes Health Care Center, following an illness from side effects caused by prescription medication.

Ellie was born in Munstermaifeld, Germany, on July 12, 1935, to the late Leo and Elsa (Bender) Eggener.  She came to America with her family in 1938.  Following high school graduation, she went on to study at U. W. Madison.  From there she moved on to Vanderbilt University where she earned her PHD in Education.  She worked as a Principal at Richmond Elementary School in Appleton for many years, retiring in the mid 90's.

In 2002, she was united in marriage to Loren Forslund.  The couple have enjoyed 23 years together.  Ellie loved working with her computerized embroidering machine.  She embroidered tote bags, card carriers, and wallets for many people over the years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Loren, of Appleton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Elsa.

A graveside service will take place at 1 pm on Sunday, April 6th, at Zion Cemetery, 900 E. Wisconsin Ave. in Appleton.
