Helen Jeanette Nagler, age 78, of Appleton, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at her home. She was born on September 20, 1944 to the late Ralph and Violet (Schaefer) Wilson in Sheboygan. On June 25, 1967 she married the love of her life Leonard F. Nagler. Helen enjoyed being involved in local government feeling that this was the opportunity to make change happen for the community. She was a longtime Outagamie County Board Supervisor, and also served multiple times as the County Board Chairperson. She served for 26 years until she retired in 2016. Her interests were wide ranging including leading efforts to create Brewster Village the county's nursing home and rehabilitation center and as a strong advocate for juvenile justice reform. She was a representative on the Appleton Common Council during the time when the Performing Arts Center was built. A longtime member of the League of Women Voters, she met many lifelong friends through this organization, initially joining before she had children. She also enjoyed knitting, traveling, reading and most of all, spending time with her family.

Helen is survived by her husband of 56 years, Leonard; her children Aaron Nagler and Anne Nagler; her grandchildren: Madeline Nagler, Violet Nagler, Olive Nagler, and Wilson Nagler; her brother Scott (Carol) Wilson; brother-in-law Robert Nagler; sister-in-law Kathryn Nagler; niece Meghan Wilson; nephews: Colin Wilson, Jeremy (Camille) Wilson, Robert (Tina) Nagler, Jr., Todd (Bobbie) Nagler, and Brian (Steffany) Nagler; and many other relatives and close friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; aunt Emilie Schaefer; and sister-in-law Karen Nagler.

A visitation for Helen will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at BRETTSCHNEIDER TRETTIN NICKEL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 606 N Oneida Street, Appleton from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a small prayer to conclude the evening. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to one of the following charities that Helen supported: Pillars Fox Cities or Brewster Village in her memory.
