Gina Abel, 61, of Greenville, Wisconsin, died peacefully on Monday, February 6, at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton following a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Gina was born on April 16, 1961, to Robert and Joan (Ward) Abel as the fourth child in what would become a family of thirteen. She lived most of her early years at the house her father built on Wege Road in Black Creek, and she attended Saint Edward's School in Mackville. She later attended Hortonville High School, and then went on to college at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.

She married Jeff Phillips on May 25, 1984, and moved to Bend, Oregon, stopping at Yellowstone National Park and other interesting places along the way. After about a year, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, and later moved back to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where they had two children, Jessica in 1987 and Isaac in 1990. They moved to Freedom in 1998 and later divorced, and Gina settled in Greenville, Wisconsin. Gina married Todd Stalnaker on February 16, 2012. They have lived in Greenville, Wisconsin ever since.

Gina joined the Army Reserves in 1986 and went to basic training and AIT with her sister Diana. As her time in the Army, Gina was deployed for Desert Storm, and retired with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Gina was a teacher and loved teaching young children. She taught Kindergarten and Elementary grades for her extensive career, before retiring from Kaukauna Public School in 2019.

The two things Gina loved most in life were her family and traveling. Gina loved to travel, taking trips with family and friends to many places near and far. The pride of her life was her family, Todd, her children, and her two grandchildren, Clayton, and Rory.

Gina was preceded in death by her father, Robert (Bob) Abel, her brother Chuck Abel, her brother-in-law Richard Bergman, and her niece Amanda Lubinski.

Gina is survived by her husband, Todd Stalnaker, and her former husband Jeff (Melody) Phillips; her children Jessica (Michael) Culver, Isaac (Erica) Phillips; her stepchildren Amanda (Paige) Stalnaker and Bryan Stalnaker; her grandchildren, Clayton Radtke and Rory Phillips; her mother Joan Abel; her brothers Joel (Cheryl) Abel, Thomas (Denice) Abel, Daniel Abel, Michael Abel, Steven Abel, Benjamin Abel, Scott Abel; sisters Amy (Bryon) Wickesberg, Mary (Kevin) Cropp, Karen Bergman, Diana (Joe) Miller; sister-in-law Nancy Abel: and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
