Obituary

Fred C. Selkey, age 92, of Appleton, WI, and Palm Harbor, FL, passed away peacefully at his home in Appleton on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, following a brief illness.

Fred was born in Chicago, IL, on May 26, 1933, to the late Fred P. and Agnes (Keating) Selkey.  As a child, his family relocated to a small farm in Wisconsin, where Fred graduated from Tomah High School.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from UW – Madison.  He also proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force, even spending some time in Japan fixing airplane radios.

On October 20, 1973, Fred was united in marriage to Donna M. King in Illinois.  The couple has enjoyed 52 years together.  Fred worked as an Electrical Engineer for many years at Honeywell, retiring around 1990.  He enjoyed golfing with his co-workers, sailing, flying in his Cessna, and teaching his kids to fish in their backyard pond.  In retirement he liked to spend his time gardening, doing the daily crossword puzzles and maintaining his investment properties.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; four daughters: Karen Selkey, Kirsten Selkey, Amy Selkey, and Mary (Alex) Wolf; son Frederick M. Selkey; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers: Carl and Peter (Betsy) Selkey.  He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Agnes, daughter Katherine, 3 sisters Mary Ann, Susan, and Judy, and brother John.
