Obituary

Elizabeth "Beth" Laux passed away peacefully on the evening of May 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 62 years old.

Born on September 4, 1962, Beth was a fierce advocate for justice and fairness. Her years of dedicated work with the United Steel Workers were rooted in a deep belief that everyone deserves dignity, equality, and respect. She brought conviction, empathy, and courage to every cause she championed.

Beth is survived by her mother, Mary Laux; her brothers Joseph Laux (Lynda Bolte), Mark Laux (Kelly Kuehl Laux), and Peter (fiance Christine) Laux; nieces and nephews Kristl, Klaire (Richard Smoot), Danielle (Hunter Keely), Victoria (Dylan) Nikolas, and J. Henry Laux; and her great-grandnephew, R.J. Laux-Smoot. She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Leland Laux, and her sister-in-law, Natalie Laux.

Creative and quick-witted, Beth was known for her love of writing, photography, and sharp humor. She found joy in connection - especially in family game nights filled with Cards Against Humanity, laughter, and her unforgettable giggle. A lover of Mexican food and rich conversation, Beth helped make family dinners feel like sacred gatherings.

She brought warmth to her relationships, and lifted people up – especially when they couldn't lift themselves.

World events often weighed on her heart, she never stopped loving.  She always fought the good fight.

Beth's strength, spirit, and boundless compassion have left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. She will be missed more than words can express.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, July 12th at Lions Park in Appleton, from 11 am to 2 pm.  We'll share stories, laughter, and memories in honor of Beth's life and legacy.  Beth was passionate, funny and deeply loving – and we invite all who knew her to help us celebrate the beautiful light she shared with the world.
