Elaine Brunner, age78, of Appleton, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday, May 21, 2023, following a brief battle with cancer.  Elaine was born in Trenton, NJ, on December 31, 1944, to the late Carl and Elizabeth "Betty" (Hovemeyer) Miller.  She was raised in New Jersey and moved to Appleton ten years ago to enjoy retirement with her 3 sons, after working as a nurse at Bayada Home Health Care.  On February 15, 2002, she was united in marriage to Edward Funk in Las Vegas.

Elaine loved to laugh and spend time with her family.  She was ready to go out for a fish fry or even a beer and pizza, just "twist her arm."  The love for her boys was like no other.  She enjoyed going on adventures near and far with Ed.  She was always a classy lady with a bit of sass.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Ed, of Appleton; 3 sons:  Michael Brunner, Sherwood, and his son Joseph; Matt (Jen) Brunner, Neenah, and Norb (Leslie) Brunner, Neenah; and 3 stepdaughters:  April (Joe) Pinto (grandchildren Autumn and Irving), Jamie and Krystalyn Funk, and Renee Morgan (grandchildren Kaitlyn and Rebecca Ashton.  She is further survived by 3 nephews:  Bud, Frank, and Carl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 sisters:  Peggy and Carol.

A celebration of Elaine's life will take place at 6 pm on Friday, May 26th, at the Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel.  Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Friday from 4 pm until the time of service.  Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
