Dorothy A.
Lowe
Oct 15, 1933 — Sep 22, 2023
Appleton
Dorothy A. Lowe, age 89, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg, Canada on October 15, 1933, to the late Thomas and Margaret (Malcolm) Borthwick. She attended Bible School in Saskatchewan, Canada, and then North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, where she met her soon to be husband, Corwin G. Lowe.
She moved back to Saskatchewan, and in 1957, she and Corwin were united in marriage in Winnipeg. Corwin went back to Missouri to finish school, and then the couple moved to New Jersey to start their ministry. Their ministry brought them to Iowa, Minnesota, West Bend, Shawano, and finally to Appleton in 1976. They were founding members of Fox Valley Christian Fellowship in Kimberly, where she taught many classes. Dorothy and Corwin enjoyed 60 years together until his passing in 2017.
The Gospel was very important to Dorothy – not only to proclaim it, but to live it. She worked as a secretary for Appleton Mayors James Sutherland and Dorothy Johnson for many years. She had a very genuine interest in people and had a sharp memory - never forgetting birthdays or special events in people's lives.
Dorothy will be missed by her sons, Robert (Rebeca) Lowe, Austin, TX and Brian Lowe, Appleton; daughter Jodi (Gregory) Hellman, Marquette, MI; seven grandchildren: Amanda Centko, Sarah Lowe, Romina (Sam) Hiti, Damaris (Kristian) Carlson, Betsabe Del Pilar,Abigail Hellman, and Maxwell Hellman; daughter-in-law Maria Lowe, Paris, France; and five great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Brad, brothers Jim and Robert, and sister Isabel.
A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Thursday, September 28th, at Fox Valley Church, 1200 W. Kimberly Ave, Kimberly, with Rev. Steve Nickel officiating. Friends may visit at the church on Thursday from 10 am until 10:45 am. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
