Dorothy K. Henke, age 96, of Appleton, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022. Dorothy was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to the late Peter and Ruby Kleppinger. After high school, she graduated from Ursinus College. She was then united in marriage to Harley Henke. The couple enjoyed 71 years together until Harley's passing in 2019. Dorothy was the bread winner while Harley completed his engineering degree at U. W. Madison. They later moved to Appleton where they raised their family. Dorothy taught Sunday School and Wednesday Catechism classes for many years. She was active and held leadership roles in Women of The Church activities and Bible studies and advocated for the role of women in the church. Dorothy also volunteered at Lincoln School, the Hearthstone, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She loved animals, nature, tending her flower garden, reading, and sewing.

She is survived by three daughters: Carol (Michael), Kathy (Donald) Lanska, and Nancy (Richard) Baehnman; and a son, Richard (Marian O'Rourke) Henke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 2 brothers, Donald and Burton.

A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Friday, January 28th, at Grace Lutheran Church, 900 N. Mason St., Appleton, with Rev. Dan Luett officiating. Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 10 am until 10:45 am. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
