Obituary

Derk Asman, age 66, of Little Chute, passed away quietly earlier this month. Derk was born on August 17, 1956 to the late Norm and Leone Asman in Appleton. Derk, like many, left to live in Bakersfield, California, then Salina, Kansas, and later Springfield, Missouri. As the decades passed, Derk moved back home to the Fox Valley, settling in his career as a welder. Derk loved his work and took pride in it. He was also a fisherman, music aficionado, and dog's best friend. Most of all, he was well read, to a fault. Derk had an immense amount of people in his life, some only briefly, but many others for the long haul. Everyone will remember him as a legendary storyteller.

Derk is survived by his sister Becky; favorite niece Elizabeth; and nephew Tony, who he made sure had a proper set of tools. In addition to his parents, Derk is preceded in death by his canine kids: Mahlik, Clyde, Savannah and Elsa.

Family and friends extend a special thanks to Badger Sheet Metal Works, for their care and keeping of Derk, as his "work family." A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, go buy a book, cast a line, or do whatever the hell you want to remember Derk. Online condolences may be offered at www.btlfuneral.com.
