Age 77, Appleton passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 18, 2025, surrounded by family, in the home he shared with his loving wife of 44 years, Theresa. He was born to the late Carl and Edna Newland in 1947 in New London, WI. The family moved to Rochester, MN and finally settled in Appleton, where he met the love of his life, Theresa M. Newland, and the two married on May 10, 1980.

Dave was proud of his decade of work for Western Electric and over twenty years spent as a Deputy Sheriff for Outagamie County. But above all, Dave loved life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed frequenting libraries, immersing himself in history, playing the guitar, riding his motorcycle, the unexplainable, the pastoral beauty of his home state, his faith and his family. Nothing gave him more pleasure than a table filled with good food surrounded by the people he loved.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Theresa; their son, Josh; his beloved sister, Connie Snyder and the many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews that brought joy to his life.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Dave at 11 AM, Friday, January 24, 2025, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Dorner officiating. Visitation will begin directly at church at 10 AM. Interment will take place in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Appleton.
