David F. Hein, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, surrounded by his family, following a battle with cancer. David was born in Appleton on April 27th, 1954, to the late Florian and Rita (DuChateau) Hein. Following graduation at Appleton West High School in 1972, he proudly served his country for 20 years in the U. S. Air Force, retiring as Master Sergeant. David worked for many years at Appleton Packing and Gasket. He was an avid bowler and loved playing tennis, but most of all, David enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son, David J. (Andrea) Hein, and their son Felix V. Hein, of Minneapolis, MN; 9 brothers and sisters: Edie Hein, Appleton, Richard (Darlene) Hein, Appleton, Cathy Fietzer, Appleton, Jean (Bruce) Carow, Suring, James (Lori) Hein, Neenah, Joe (Jiyon) Hein, Columbia, SC, Linda Hein, Appleton, Terri (Daniel) Meyer, Fox Crossing, and Mary Hein, Green Bay. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Michael Hein.

A funeral service will take place at 7 pm on Thursday, December 30th, at the Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, followed by full military honors. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 5 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in David's name to the American Cancer Society.
