David J. Burroughs, age 68, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, May 12, 2023, following a brief illness. David was born in Appleton to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Stadler) Burroughs. He grew up in Menasha and graduated with the class of 73 at Menasha High School. On July 28, 1984, he was united in marriage to Susan Sauberlich. He worked at Essity, formerly known as Wisconsin Tissue, for 40 plus years, retiring in 2020. David enjoyed fishing, working on cars, daily crossword puzzles and playing Out Spell, and hanging out with his best canine friend Roxie.

He will be missed by his wife Susan, Appleton; two daughters: Amy Burroughs, Appleton and Shelly (Tony DeCleene) Burroughs, Menasha; 3 grandchildren: Hannah, Blake, and Macaira; brother, Kenneth Burroughs, Appleton; father-in-law Dennis Sauberlich, Appleton; 2 brothers-in-law: Dick (Lois) Sauberlich, Green Bay and Pete (Stacy) Sauberlich, Menasha; and 2 sisters-in-law: Mary VandenHeuvel, Kaukauna and Angie Burroughs, Appleton. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert, brother Robert, and mother-in-law Geraldine Sauberlich.
