Charlotte "Char" E. Barry, age 92, of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Prairie Homes in Menasha.  She was born in Appleton to the late Eric and Martha (Ruscher) Voigt on February 23, 1934.  Char worked for many years as a label maker for the Menasha Corporation.

Char will be remembered for the joy, laughter, and warmth she brought to the lives of those around her. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, ice skating, watching Westerns and game shows.  Char also had a love for slots and gambling, always enjoying the excitement and fun that came with it. Above all, Char treasured the time spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Her generous spirit, sense of fun, and love for those closest to her will be deeply missed.

Char is survived by her children: Charlene (Mike) Vanden Boomen, Barb (Glenn Hieptas) Romnek, Mike (Sandra) Hoerning, Karen (Brian) Vandenberg, and Laura (Dave) Hopfensperger; grandchildren: Lisa, Katie, Chad (Jamie), Jenny (Dave), Scott (Ashley), Mark (Sarah), Alyssa(Chris), Travis, Kim(Zach), Bryan, Nicole (Luke), Randy, Jeff (Mel), and Kyle (Abbey); 23 great grandchildren; and many other close relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Elizabeth Voigt; and step grandson Andy.

A memorial service for Char will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at BRETTSCHNEIDER TRETTIN NICKEL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 606 N Oneida Street, Appleton with Pastor Timothy Soukup officiating.  Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Prairie Homes in Menasha, especially Ali, Jean, Kelsey, Maddie, Antoinette, Nikki, Rylie, Jennifer T, Jen K, Breanna, Anastasia, Rose, Jameson, Dakota, and Ani.  Also, to the staff of St. Croix Hospice especially Becca, Ashley and Chaplain Kevin.
