Catherine Ann
Skell
Nov 24, 1959 — Dec 20, 2022
Shiocton
Catherine "Cathy" Ann Skell
of Shiocton, WI passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family due to a short and unexpected illness on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at age 63. Cathy was born in Chicago, IL on November 24, 1959, to parents Gerald and Florence (Gron) Voras. She married the love of her life, John Skell, on April 16, 1993, and they were going to be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. Her love for John was pure, strong and beautiful, just like Cathy.
To know Cathy was an experience hard to capture in words. She had a smile that would light up the room, an unmatched sense of humor, a laugh that was contagious, and a generous heart that made the world a better place. She had the soul of pure love and was absolutely beautiful inside and out.
Her love for her family was beyond measure and the bond she shared with her three daughters was magnetic. Cathy was the mom everyone wanted. She had a flare for all things fabulous. Fun, fashion, travel, jewelry, shopping, and so much more. Her love for live music was contagious and her eclectic taste made her even more fascinating. She was the catalyst that pulled people together to create life's most cherished memories. She did this exceptionally well with her six grandsons.
She loved watching all her grandsons play sports, spending time up north in Pickerel, winning jackpots at the casino, watching scary movies, going to concerts, and cruising the Caribbean, but most of all she just loved being with her family. She knew time was precious with her parents and made the most of it. Her chocolate lab Kimber was her princess.
Cathy was a graduate of FVTC with a degree in marketing and spent the majority of her career in the title industry creating many strong relationships. Beyond her family some of Cathy's proudest accomplishments were the fact she just celebrated 33 years of sobriety, her journey with TV Show The Biggest Loser, running half marathons, and her strong catholic faith that grew stronger every day. Heaven got a little more fun when Cathy got there.
Survived by her loving husband John Skell, parents Gerald and Florence (Gron) Voras, brother John (Jacci) Voras, sister Diane (Todd) Lepak, and daughters Karri (Jeremy) Bedor, Kristin (Nick) Steede, Stephanie Kern, and Kimber. Grandchildren Tyler Bedor (special friend Annie Panico), Deven Bedor, Derek Bedor, Ethan Steede, Gavin Kern, and Trenton Kern. Sister-in-laws Jackie (Bill) Learman and Debbie (Tom) Kerrigan. Nieces and nephews Angela (Matthew) Voras-Hills, Joe (Jill) Voras, Josh Lepak, Jacob Lepak, Craig (Alicia) Learman, Gina (Jason) Vandenberg, Tara (Ryan) Anderson, Jenny Kerrigan, Tommy (Stacy) Kerrigan and other great nieces and nephews as well as Rick (Lori) Price, Tina Shetina, Bev (Marty) Guidera, Casey Bodenheimer and endless other special friends.
Cathy was preceded in death by brother Jeffrey Voras and paternal and maternal grandparents.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic Church (312 E. State St.), Appleton, with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Friends and family may visit directly at the church on Tuesday from 9 – 11 AM. She will be laid to rest next to her brother, Jeff at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Appleton.
She loved flowers and they can be delivered to St. Mary's Catholic Church 312 E. State St. Appleton, WI 54911. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be set up in Cathy's name and condolences may be sent to John Skell at 5051 Clinton Drive Shiocton, WI 54170.
Thank you to the Shiocton Fire and Rescue and the medical staff at New London Medical Center and Thedcare Neenah and the flight staff with Theda star.
