Carmen
Lindberg
Dec 21, 1928 — Oct 23, 2024
Appleton
On October 23, 2024 , after a well lived life of 95 years, Carmen Lindberg left us to be reunited with her husband, son and so many other loved ones who have gone before her.
Carmen was a sweet, happy and friendly person who impacted all who knew her. She will ever be remembered for her quick-witted sense of humor. Carmen Mascarenas was born in Upstate New York on December 21, 1928. She loved her job as a flight attendant for American Airlines which led her to meet her future husband and love of her life John. She was proud to be a homemaker and was an avid volunteer for many charitable organizations.
Carmen and her husband John raised 5 children, who in turn gave them 10 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She loved her family and nothing gave her greater joy than holding one of the new babies.
Carmen was a charter member of St. Bernard's parish. Her strong Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She participated in the Thursday neighborhood rosary group for over 40 years. Everyone who traveled in a car with her will remember her mandatory participation in saying the rosary. Her interests included golf, tennis and any type of cards-especially bridge. She also enjoyed playing bingo and trips to the casino.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving children: Karen (John) Gibson, Laura ( Tony) Van Rooy, Sue ( Joe Hrabik) Lindberg, John (fiancé Noelle) Lindberg; daughter-in-law, Becky Lindberg; sister, Juanita Abell and her children: Shar, Susie and Sean; grandchildren: Jen Van Rooy( Eric Lempke) Sara (Devon) Davia , Kevin (Marissa) Van Rooy, Brian ( Kerri) Van Rooy, Dan ( Lindsey Lundgaard) Lindberg, Tony (Lisa) Lindberg, Carmen ( Connor) O'Brien, Claire (special friend Dan) Lindberg, Ian Geurts and Johnny Lindberg; special long-time friend Suzanne Kewley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John; son Rick, sister Betty Abare, brother, John Mascarenas, and granddaughter-in-law, Jessica.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Carmen will be held at 11 AM, Monday, November 4, 2024 at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Demuth officiating. Visitation will begin at church from 9 – 11 AM. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Greenlawn Cemetery in Neenah.
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their tender care of Mom these past few months. And special thanks to Pam, and the rest of the Touchmark staff, especially the caregivers, "you know who you are" for their kind and loving care of Carmen.
Carmen's final thought to family and friends: "Live every minute of your life with love in your heart."
