Obituary

Brad Joseph West, 49, Greenville, passed away with his loving family by his side on April 17, 2026, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Brad was born on Jan. 11, 1977, in Appleton to Joseph and Natalee West. He graduated from Appleton West High School and obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin Stout. Brad was employed as an account manager at Lake Side Book Company.

He carried with him a lifelong love of sports—especially baseball and his beloved Brewers. Whether it was bar sports, trivia nights, or his cherished annual "guys weekends," Brad found joy in laughter, camaraderie, and the company of friends. Known by many as "Hozer," a nickname he earned in high school, Brad had a remarkable ability to connect with people. He truly had friends wherever he went and was, in every sense, one of a kind. Brad's presence filled every room. With his big voice, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome and leaving them smiling. Brad truly enjoyed being surrounded by water whether it was tubing down the river, being in water parks, spending time at friends and families' cottages, boating and jet skiing on the lake, knocking down his children's sandcastles, all while enjoying lots of Miller Lites. Brad also enjoyed spending time watching his favorite sports teams and grilling in neighbors' garages along with tiny tavern tours and was the ultimate Barstool Olympian.

Brad's greatest pride and accomplishment in life were his children: Isabelle "Belle" and Grant. He was a dedicated and loving father—coaching, cheering, and always present. Whether helping with baseball, attending every volleyball tournament, wrestling in the living room, or creating adventures and memorable traditions such as summer trips to the dells to the Shamrock motel and Noah's Ark, and spring trips to Daytona Beach, spent time at the family Shawano cottage. He will be remembered for his gourmet cooking of poor man's lasagna and chicken penne. Brad was a true "Super Dad." Last but not least, his beloved furry child Sadie "Thedie" the dog that he swore he never wanted but, in the end, couldn't live without. They spent their time napping and relaxing by binging movies.

He treasured time spent watching sports with his father at their regular hangout, The Daily Pint, enjoying his mother's cooking, especially her tuna salad and scalloped potatoes, and sharing football games with his sister. He was a proud uncle to his nieces, Lily and Addison.

Brad found an unexpected and profound love for Candi. Together, they created a close-knit family, where their children: Belle, Grant, Jenna and Georgia, shared a bond of love, laughter, and sibling connection and home to all of them. In the most difficult chapter of his life, their relationship was marked by deep love, partnership, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Candi was not only his partner, but the love of his life. The care that Candi alongside Belle provided brought him comfort, joy, and peace in his final days as well as JoJa cookies.

Brad is survived by his children: Belle (Seth) and Grant West; his parents: Joseph and Natalie; his sister, Lisa (Carl) Prien; his nieces: Lily and Addison Prien; the love of his life; Candi Teske and her daughters: Jenna and Georgia "JoJa" Teske. Also, his friends that were like family; Jeff and Brian Hannemann, Eric Eisenhauer, Chris and Kelli Gobin and the mother of his children; Jacki Riehl.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Milton and Evelyn "Honey" Johnson; his paternal grandparents: Henry "Bud" and Jeanne West and his cousins: Nick Mueller and Tom West.

Brad will be remembered for his laughter, his loyalty, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the love he gave so freely and the joy he brought into the lives of others.

We would also like to give a special thanks to ThedaCare Oncology, ThedaCare Hospice specifically Tess and Stephanie for going above and beyond for Brad, Candi and Belle, and to Outagamie County for their assistance in delivering his medication during a snowstorm.

Information regarding his celebration of life will be shared once plans are finalized.
