Ana Maria
Acosta
Aug 3, 1970 — Dec 22, 2025
Hortonville
Celebrating a life defined by joyful service, profound faith, and an unwavering love for community, we honor Ana Maria Acosta, 55, of Hortonville, Wisconsin. Ana Maria entered eternal rest unexpectedly on December 26, 2025, following a severe cerebral aneurysm.
A Life of Purpose and Intellectual Curiosity
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, to Alejandro Acosta and Marina Cortes, Ana Maria was a lifelong dreamer who sought to turn her aspirations into reality hand-in-hand with God. A dedicated scholar, she studied Information Science at Universidad Javeriana before building a prominent career in Colombia. Her thirst for knowledge later led her to earn a Master in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Ana Maria's professional calling was most visible at the Elisha D. Smith Public Library in Menasha. As a Reference Librarian, she was far more than a source of information; she was a vibrant bridge for the Hispanic community. Whether organizing cooking lessons, art displays, or musical events, she served with modesty and dedication that defined her character.
A Spirit of Service and Song
A devoted Catholic, Ana Maria sought to follow the path of Jesus through constant prayer and action. Her heart for service was forged in the rural missions of Colombia and continued through her compassionate work in Wisconsin. She was a woman of high energy and intellect—a skilled researcher who could uncover complex genealogy trees as easily as she could recommend a life-changing book.
Her life was filled with melody and a deep connection to the natural world. A guitar player since her youth, she filled her home with Colombian traditional songs and Christmas carols. She was an animal lover who found beauty in the land and brought a talkative, infectious happiness to every meeting.
Her Greatest Devotion
Above all, Ana Maria was a devoted wife, mother, and sister. Her love story with her husband, Robert Weiland, began 20 years ago across continents—a digital connection that blossomed into a beautiful marriage in Colombia. She was the heart of her family, caring lovingly for her children, Daniel (19) and Elena (16), and her stepson, Tylor (31). She will be deeply missed by her husband, children, and her sister, who held a special place in her heart.
Ana Maria Acosta leaves behind a legacy of kindness, affection, and spiritual strength. She was a modest soul who never sought the spotlight, yet her light shines on in the countless lives she touched.
