Obituary

Alan A. "Al" Frydrych, age 65, of Appleton, WI, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI.  Al was born on December 13, 1960, to the late Charles and Louise (Berlinger) Frydrych in Garden City, Michigan.   He graduated from Roscommon High School in 1979 and later attended Kirtland College to pursue carpentry.  Al dedicated much of his life to hard work, serving for over 20 years as a supervisor in the lumber and veneer industry in Goodman, Wisconsin, where he was respected for his steady leadership and strong work ethic; he spent several years driving truck, embracing the independence of the road, and later worked part-time at Menards.

Al found joy in the things he loved most—spending time hunting deer and birds, studying history with a special interest in wars and empires, working on tractors, and settling in to watch favorites like Band of Brothers, Sons of Anarchy, and The Godfather trilogy. He was a devoted sports fan who rarely missed a game, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Detroit Tigers, and the Michigan Wolverines, faithfully watching college football every Saturday.  Al was proud of his Polish heritage and was happy to host a Polish foreign exchange student, Mikolaj Zajac, who is like a son to him.

Al was a remarkably smart and wise man whose personable nature made him easy to talk to and hard to forget. He valued connection above all else and cherished every moment spent with his family, finding his greatest joy in their company. Among those closest to his heart was his beloved "Partner in Crime," his grandson Max, with whom he shared countless special memories and a bond that will be deeply missed.

Al is survived by his son, Josh (Casey) Frydrych; grandsons Max Frydrych and Drake Patt; brothers Ray (Pamela) Frydrych and Ron Frydrych; sister Kathy (Harry) Cripps; brother-in-law Joe Barribeau; and many other relatives and close friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Trudy Barribeau; and sister-in-law Connie Frydrych.

Per the Al's wishes, a memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
